SlutWalk Peoria 2025
-
The movement originated in Toronto, Canada, after a police officer stated that women should avoid dressing like "sluts" to avoid sexual assault.
SlutWalk protests are a direct response to this victim-blaming mentality and aim to challenge the idea that a person's clothing can justify or excuse sexual violence.
The core message is that clothing choices do not cause sexual assault and that individuals, regardless of how they dress, should not be blamed for such acts.
SlutWalks also address broader issues of rape culture, sexual violence, and street harassment, advocating for a society where such behaviors are not tolerated.
-
It is not an event for children, but children are welcome with the understanding that some participants will be dressed in little clothing and stories of sexual and domestic violence will be shared, including child abuse.
We recommend that children ages 4-12 not be present for the speaker portion of the event.

Our organization coordinators have been facilitating events, marches, and rallies for decades. We are a trained group of professionals who lead all event planning with physical and emotional safety as a priority.
Trained marshals, crisis-counselors, and de-escalation volunteers will be present to lead a safe event.
However, with any event, the risk of physical or emotional harm is still present due to outside factors.
